The dry bulk market exhibited significant declines this week, notably impacting the Capesize sector, where the BCI 5TC dropped USD 6,726 to USD 45,731, pressured by limited Brazil activity and growing tonnage availability. Despite a modest recovery midweek, overall rates remained subdued, highlighting challenges ahead of Golden Week in China. Meanwhile, Panamax rates faced downward adjustments amidst mixed Atlantic conditions and cautious Pacific demand, resulting in a P5TC decrease of USD 313, closing at USD 21,349. The Supramax and Handysize segments showed slight resilience, with minor fluctuations in earnings influenced by regional demand variances and limited activity due to ongoing holiday disruptions in Asia.
