Capesize market showed notable strength with the BCI 5TC increasing from USD 42,105 to USD 46,601, supported by robust demand across the Pacific and North Atlantic. The C5 index rose to USD 15,545 amidst tight tonnage. Meanwhile, Panamax rates improved to USD 20,632, lifted by stronger inquiry from both North and South Atlantic regions. The Supramax index remained steady, while Handysize rates fluctuated amid varying regional performances. India’s coal sector faces supply chain vulnerabilities despite increased domestic production efforts, as lower inventories coincide with rising electricity demand, highlighting a balancing act in its energy strategy.
