Dry cargo markets exhibited mixed trends as the Capesize index showed resilience despite soft conditions earlier in the week, closing at USD 37,420 for the 5TC. Increased activity from miners in the Atlantic and steady demand from the Pacific contributed to this rebound, though rising bunker costs posed challenges. Conversely, the Panamax market struggled significantly, with the P5TC decreasing to USD 16,999, driven by excess tonnage and limited fresh enquiries across both basins. In the Supramax segment, the average slipped to USD 23,569, reflecting limited demand in the US Gulf and South Atlantic while remaining supported in Asia. The Handysize segment demonstrated relative stability but also saw minor declines, particularly influenced by US Gulf weaknesses.
