In July, the adoption of alternative fuels among global shipping fleets shows a significant divide, with 11.2 per cent of the total fleet utilising scrubbers, and 2.9 per cent adopting alternative fuel sources. The orderbook, however, shows a contrasting picture, with 21.5 per cent of the total vessels on order set to run on alternate fuels while 18.5 per cent of them choosing scrubbers. Besides LNG carriers which mostly run on the chilled fuel, LPG carriers and RoRo carriers take the next top spots in the future adoption of alternative fuel sources, with a share of 61 per cent and 51 per cent, respectively.
