Newbuilding activity has noticeably slowed as Asian shipyards take their traditional summer breaks, particularly in Korea where closures last one to two weeks. Despite this seasonal dip, the Korean yards still possess a competitive advantage by offering earlier delivery slots amid an overwhelmingly booked Chinese market, indicating a dynamic shift in yard competitiveness. In the tanker sector, a modern Suezmax vessel was recently sold for USD 123 million, establishing a new pricing benchmark as buyers remain willing to pay premiums for prompt deliveries. Meanwhile, the bulk sector exhibits steady activity, highlighted by the sale of a Capesize vessel for a high USD 70 million, nonetheless maintaining a consistent pricing structure across various segments.
